Charging an electric vehicle "On the Road" is a somewhat complicated endeavor to fully understand. Yeah, it is somewhat like an ICE car in that you stop and plug in to get additional range. But that is where the comparison ends. In addition to the limited availability of charging stations, the speed in which an EV charges will vary greatly. The charge rate could be WILDLY different for different vehicles. Also, all EVs, will have a slowing charge rate as the battery fills. This "Charge Curve" is the first thing to understand. A Charge Curve shows how fast an electric battery will charge for its current "State of Charge" (SOC). Even when half full, the battery will charge much slower.
